Resources for Seniors

.

I was recently contacted by Kathleen Carter from http://educatorlabs.org/who has put together a collection of resources for seniors and the various challenges we face as we grow older.

.

I hope this will be of value to any seniors among my readers or those who are carers for someone with a disability or other health problem.

From Elmer George of elderville.org

“As a senior who recently purchased a home and made significant modifications to it, I can’t tell you how much people like me (people of all ages, really) appreciate having easy access to info about buying and maintaining a home.” so here are his list of recommended links.

Uncommon Hypnosis

I’ve been hearing the benefits of hypnosis and hypnotherapy discussed quite a lot lately especially in discussions regarding finding a solution for people who are getting really stressed with increased workloads as businesses cut down their staff numbers to make ends meet, but still expect the same amount of work so get done from the fewer number of employees remaining. Are you one of these? Perhaps hypnosis would be a good solution for you.

.

Wouldn’t you like to be able to reduce your stress and still maintain your productivity at work and be calm and relaxed throughout your day, even when you are under pressure from maybe bullies at work or friends asking for loans when you are short of cash yourself? Hypnosis can help with these problems.

.

In fact hypnosis can help you to really understand yourself and others, help you to tap into your creative side and become very focused about whatever you are trying to achieve.

Hypnosis has a long history of helping human beings be the very best they can be. It can be used to control anything controlled by the unconscious mind – pain, blood pressure, fear, confidence levels, mood, sex drive… the list goes on…

2 Simple Steps to Make Your Retirement Savings Leap

The fall in value of currencies, while costs continues to rise is causing millions of older people around the world to fear what their life will be like in their senior years. There is so much uncertainty that retirement savings carefully put aside for all those years will no longer be sufficient to provide the expected comfort in later life. Such questions as what would happen if they developed health problems, what if one partner dies and the other is left, what if they could no longer afford to live in their family home.

It is not all doom and gloom. According to USNews Money department writer, Richard Satran in an article published 5th March 2103:

Fear has motivated people to start saving more, but here are two positive ways to upgrade savings

Given a half-decade of economic uncertainty, fear may still be the biggest motivator for retirement saving. The financial crisis inspired people everywhere to save more and hold off on short-term spending. “It shook people out of their complacency and got them thinking, ‘I should save more,'” says Ken Hevert, Fidelity’s vice president of retirement products. “All age groups—young people, too, are showing a tendency to be more conservative.”

New surveys by two leading financial-services companies show how attitudes toward saving have evolved, and highlight a couple of easy steps that can have a big impact on savings.

These easy steps can be summarized in the following two tips:

“Tip 1: Planning for retirement boosts savings dramatically” – the planning process gives them positive goals for retirement

“Tip 2: Putting eggs in more than one basket produces far higher returns” …. “opening more channels for collecting funds has a positive effect on the amount people save”

Does planning give people a sense of taking control of their lives which helps to overcome the fear factor?

Keeping your Brain Active

Free Gift Membership to “Learning to Earn” see below.

If you’re approaching retirement age and wondering what you can do to enjoy a long and healthy life in your golden years then consider adopting the attitude of a lifelong learner. Most people think of lifelong learning as being confined to academic endeavors however the lifelong learning approach covers all areas of life including spiritual, social, academic and physical.

Lifelong learning is based on an attitude of constantly growing and evolving in various areas of your life. The old saying that whenever anything is not growing it is decaying could be just as true for us as humans. No matter what a person’s age there are great benefits to be gained by challenging yourself in the different areas of your life, physical, mental and self-deveopment.

Physical challenges must be appropriate for your level of fitness, but regular exercise of some kind will leep your body healthier and your brain healthier too. Mental challenges do not have to be academic study, they can be a new hobby or interest, a new caring or chrity venture, more involvement with family. The most growth in personal development will come when you take on something that is currently outside your comfort zone (nasty words those, aren’t they? How we love to stay in our comfort zone, even when it isn’t all that comfortable really).

Lifelong learners live by the motto “you’re never too old to learn” and this attitude is a big part of the reason that people who approach life with this mindset are seen to perhaps live longer but definitely enjoy a better quality of life – is the so-called law of nature known as the “use it or lose it” true?

It does seem to be the case that those who are considerably inactive develop mobility problems as they age, whereas those who are quite active do not develop these mobility problems. A similar effect takes place with anyone who takes no part in any mentally challenging activity or pursuit. After years of mental inactivity

Brain Training Can Improve Your Memory

banner_brainAll of us, in a certain point of our lives, experienced memory loss. It could be forgetting where we put the keys, if we have locked the door, etc. As we grow older, it is natural for some of our brain cells to age and die which would cause some problems with memory. Over the years, research on brain training showed that it could help in decreasing memory loss.

Dementia is one of the biggest health issues that the older generation is facing. Currently, about 24 million people are suffering from dementia. By 2040, the number could reach about 84 million of sufferers, making us one of the possible patients of dementia.

The same goes for Alzheimer’s disease which is affecting about five million Americans. Health experts project that Alzheimer patients could reach about 16 million by 2050. That is until the current generation would do something to avoid such problems with memory loss.

How does brain training help us in enhancing our memory?

Affiliate Marketing – some thoughts and ideas

Affiliate Marketing – what exactly is it?

Put simply, it is process where you as the affiliate sell or promote someone else’s product or service and you receive a commission for your efforts. Affiliate Marketing is usually considered to be the lowest cost business model when starting an Online Business, and as such is the most popular method with many newcomers to Internet Marketing. The owners or licence holders of the product you promote can be called authors, publishers, merchants or other different terms, depending on whether it is a physical or an information product that you are promoting and how the commission payments are organised.

This business model can take many different forms but are commonly called Affiliate Programs. You join the affiliate program a merchant is using to sell a particular product you are interested in promoting. The most common types of programs are as follows:

  1. Pay per click – each visitor you send to the merchant’s site will earn you a commission.
  2. Pay per lead – each lead you send to the merchant’s site will earn you a commission.
  3. Pay per sale – commission will be paid by publishers for each sale made at his website or on sites such as clickbank or paydotcom.

Each one of the above methods returns a certain payment for delivering the click, lead, or sale. By far the largest number of businesses utilizing this model work on a Pay per Sale system. There are hundreds of affiliate networks that you can join where the owners of the site have numerous publishers registered so you can choose products & promote them without have to join up to all the separate affiliate programs. Examples of such sites are Commission Junction, Clix Galore, Clickbank, PayDotCom and Click2sell.

Many Internet Marketers will guide the beginner into Affiliate Marketing because it is considered to be the cheapest and simplest business model to get started and develop, especially when all the marketing tools such as a web sales page, promotional emails, articles, press releases etc are provided by the publisher.

Your main costs will be in the promotion of the product or service. All costs associated with the product, sales page, delivery, after sales services, as well as merchant services set up and costs, will be paid by the merchant providing the product.

When starting your Internet Business through affiliate marketing there are five steps to follow:

  1. Find your niche market which shows enough demand as well as a reasonable supply, as well as one that would support future business growth.
  2. Find out what the market is searching for in terms of solutions to problems, or a product/service for which there is a shortage of supply or even a deficiency.
  3. Research the available affiliate products and services for something that will fill the deficiency or fix the problem.
  4. Promote the product by every means available to you.
  5. Although this is not necessarily essential, owning your own website can increase your methods of promotion, but more importantly it allows you to pre-sell the product before redirecting them to the merchant’s sales page.

The final item regarding your own website needs serious consideration as it will be the best way towards developing and growing your business and to start creating an opt-in list of targeted potential customers.

Creating a trust between yourself and your customers, as well as your partners, is of prime importance to your business. This trust will serve you well as your customers will gradually consider you to be their expert in this niche and they will take your recommendations and buy.

To help build this relationship of trust, give value to potential customers by offering something useful to them for free. The more value you give them, the more they will be inclined to make purchases from you at a later date. Do not think for one minute that without it you will be able to succeed in affiliate marketing or any other type of business if you do not build a relationship of trust with a list of potential customers.

My new ebook finally has a sales page

The end of another week. Hope you all had a good one.

I’m feeling pleased with myself today. Have finally got my new ebook for beginner internet marketers out here. Not only that, but I have reworked the main page because it looked different in Firefox than it did in IE (Internet Explorer) & pretty messy too if I’m honest, so I’m pleased with the result now – it was really annoying me before.

I’ve learned a lot about many aspects of internet marketing in the last two years, but I think I like making web pages the best. Too much sometimes, because the page by itself is pretty useless – we need to have all the different sectors functioning properly for a business to be successful. Just like all of life really, isn’t it?

Of course any page is just a work in progress, but it doesn’t pay to spend hours and hours trying to get every last thing right, so I’m advised, so here it is – it’s titled  Online Home Business Success  and here’s the link.

You can make 50% commission if you recommend this product to people and they buy it. Just click on the “Affiliate” link at the bottom of the page for details. If you have problems, shoot me an email.

Affiliate Marketing

If you’re interested at all in making some money with your computer, as a sideline or as a serious business, you probably already have a good understanding of what affiliate marketing is all about and you may already use it, however there are a number of other readers who don’t know what it is and would like to understand how the process works.

Affiliate marketing is a partnership between two business for their mutual benefit, a win-win situation and is basically the process whereby one business recruits a network of smaller businesses or websites, known as affiliates to drive targeted traffic to the website which contains an offer to sell something.

The process works in two ways as you can be the person having an affiliate program, in which case you pay each of your affiliates when someone they refer makes a purchase or, the other side of the process is that you can be an affiliate for someone else, so that you are finding buyers for his product or service and you are paid a percentage commission for your work. There is nothing new in this concept, it’s just like the travelling salesman of old transitioning to the internet.

The beauty of this process for the beginner internet marketer is that you need very little start-up capital, you don’t need something of your own to sell and you don’t have to worry about ad copy and links for your marketing as they will be provided by the advertisers. You can even start without having your own website, by sending emails, writing articles or reviews for e-zines, article directories, off-line publications etc.

To get referrals who purchase, you need to concentrate on an audience that has some interest in the product or service you are promoting and then focus on important points like how the product can make something in their life easier, faster or more enjoyable. You can also stress what the product saves them from as people will do almost anything to get rid of some problems, such as having pain. In other words, point out the benefits this product would bring to your reader and not the features of it.

There is plenty of information on the internet to show you exactly how to get started but if anyone is interested an having more on the subject in this blog, post a comment below with a few details of what you’d be interested in.
