<g:plusone size="standard" count="" href="http://trishfindlay.com/keeping-your-brain-active-free-gift/"></g:plusone>

Free Gift Membership to “Learning to Earn” see below.

If you’re approaching retirement age and wondering what you can do to enjoy a long and healthy life in your golden years then consider adopting the attitude of a lifelong learner. Most people think of lifelong learning as being confined to academic endeavors however the lifelong learning approach covers all areas of life including spiritual, social, academic and physical.

Lifelong learning is based on an attitude of constantly growing and evolving in various areas of your life. The old saying that whenever anything is not growing it is decaying could be just as true for us as humans. No matter what a person’s age there are great benefits to be gained by challenging yourself in the different areas of your life, physical, mental and self-deveopment.

Physical challenges must be appropriate for your level of fitness, but regular exercise of some kind will leep your body healthier and your brain healthier too. Mental challenges do not have to be academic study, they can be a new hobby or interest, a new caring or chrity venture, more involvement with family. The most growth in personal development will come when you take on something that is currently outside your comfort zone (nasty words those, aren’t they? How we love to stay in our comfort zone, even when it isn’t all that comfortable really).

Lifelong learners live by the motto “you’re never too old to learn” and this attitude is a big part of the reason that people who approach life with this mindset are seen to perhaps live longer but definitely enjoy a better quality of life – is the so-called law of nature known as the “use it or lose it” true?

It does seem to be the case that those who are considerably inactive develop mobility problems as they age, whereas those who are quite active do not develop these mobility problems. A similar effect takes place with anyone who takes no part in any mentally challenging activity or pursuit. After years of mental inactivity you lose the mental abilities and clarity that you once had and when old age approaches the effects of not giving your brain the stimulation required to grow becomes more evident.

The Good News
The good news is that no matter what your age you can adopt the lifelong learner attitude and reap the benefits in any number of ways such as:

Improved self-confidence

Improved dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination

Learn new skills

Improve memory

Improve and maintain social skills

Overcome social isolation

Improve physical, mental, and emotional health

Improved outlook on life

When deciding to start on a course of study or activity a good starting point is to think about the things you might enjoy doing or learning. For physical activities many gyms have fitness programs not only for young people but also senior programs as well. Another fun activity is Tai Chi which is very popular with many seniors as it helps to calm the mind and also improves breathing.

Some hobbies that are popular include painting, craft making, flower arranging, pottery and wood carving with all of these being relatively inexpensive and easy to learn. When is comes to a course of study it is mostly an individual choice weather to participate in an adult learning program through a local community center or to do an extensive study program through a college. Since my own interset is in most things to do with computers, listed below are a couple of good links for PC and software training, mostly text with good graphics to illustrate points. You can find heaps more with a google search.

Free online tutorials, Windows, Office, some basic, some not, at http://www.baycongroup.com/tutorials.htm

Learning computer – Windows (inc Windows 7), Office, Firefox, Java, ebay at http://www.learningcomputer.com/

Free training in the different functions of Excel, Word, Powerpoint at http://www.free-training-tutorial.com/ (select the links on the left & choose topics from the top – there are ads on this site, but that’s why they offer the training free.) There are also maths games here.

If you want to make your own training videos, you can use the free Cam Studio – get it here: http://camstudio.org/

For those interested in learning to earn some income from the internet, there are hundreds of free training packages out there. Be aware, that they will nearly all require you to subscribe, give your email address and possible your name to receive these. This gives the provider the opportunity to offer to sell you something, either at the time or later, you will always have a link at the bottom of such emails that lets you “unsubscribe” by clicking on the link.

Today I am offering a gift membership to the site “Learning to Earn Online” if you’d like to have a look at it, click on the graphic to the left.

There are plenty of different courses, Windows XP, Vista, Word, Website builder, graphic design, product creation, traffic, adwords, clickbank, niche marketing testing and tracking, video marketing and many, many more.

Also some video series for How to Sell on eBay, CPA for Newbies, Free Traffic for new Marketers, How to Get Started online & a (Windows) Publisher 2007 video course.

In addition, there are downloadable ebooks on different topics and heaps of articles.

The site has been going for a while; I used some of the material myself earlier on.

You have a choice of reading online, reading offline or having the lessons delivered to you regularly by email.

Regardless of your individual choices the important thing is to be involved in a number of physical, social, spiritual, or academic activities and approach these with the right attitude. By adopting the lifelong learner approach to life you will not only extend your life but reap the benefits of a quality of life that most people your age could only dream of.

Best wishes
Trish

Today I’ve tried out the Max Banner Ads plugin from maxblogpress.com and it is so simple, a beginner could get banners up in no ti,e at all. See the banner at the top of my home page.

Apart from being able to choose the poition of the banner, you can also have rotating ads, so that when you refresh or re-visit the page, there is a different banner being shown. There are various ways to add the banner, from a URL or upload from your PC. If you are promoting an affiliate product and they give you html or java code, you just select the option “Other Text Ads / Flash / Javascript ….” and paste the code in. Easy as pie and I had mine done in less than 2 minutes.

The free version shows “Powered by Max Banner Ads” underneath. Although you can remove this if you purchase the Pro version, you can easily embed your clickbank hoplink, so worth considering leaving it there.

The help is very detailed and easy to understand – there are “How to…” pages for just about anything you could think of such as:

How to add banner to your blog

How to add Adsense, Adbrite and other (text, flash, Javascript) Ads

How to add ads at the sidebar of the blog

How to add multiple groups of ads in the same placeHow to show banner to certain pages only

How to show & rotate more than one banner in the same zone …….

The video on how to use Max Banner Ads and all the features is extremely well done, runs for over 9 minutes and goes into all the detail including you need to get going. All in all, I find this to be a highly recommended plug-in for people wanting to maximise both their promotions and their time. Doesn’t that include all of us?

Best wishes,
Trish

Almost everyone has their own theory on how to survive the recession, such as:

1. Keep/protect your job
2. Move in while others are distracted
3. Earn extra money where you can
4. Evaluate your mortgage
5. Refinance high interest credit cards
6. Reduce spending as much as you can
7. Haggle your way to savings on purchases
8. Conserve energy and reduce your home bills
9. Don’t take on any unnecessary debts

I really could go on and on with suggestions like this, but I’m pretty sure you’ll know it all already. You can Google it for yourself anyway and find plenty more advice from every Tom, Dick and Harry out there.

So let’s get straight to the point.

With so many ways and so much advice, how come not everyone gets rich? How come not everyone who reduces their spending get rich? How come not everyone who has an education get rich? How come not everyone who starts a business get rich?

Because it’s not about what you do, it’s about how you do it. No matter how many ways there are, if you don’t do it RIGHT — whichever method you choose — it won’t bring RESULTS.

So what is the ONE right thing that you need to do to get rich?

Bob Proctor & Jack Canfield are men who know and they want to tell you that there is a science — a formula — to get rich. It’s about doing certain things in a certain way. This blueprint has been proven to make anyone get rich across centuries.

So before you waste your time trying out endless ways blindly, get this one formula that will transform your financial future.

I believe this is one of the best decisions I have ever made as the event can only be described as an internet marketers’ dream.

Some of the speakers in Melbourne

There were no less than eleven internationally acclaimed and very, very successful internet entrepreneurs talking to us, all willingly sharing some of their best techniques and giving us tantalizing insights into what we could learn if we could become a student or protégé.

More of the speakers at the internet summit

It was a great opportunity to meet with other like minded folk, to discuss all the different areas of internet marketing that we have chosen and also to get new ideas, as these were generously exchanged.

I was able to get a few words with Brett on the last day. (Click on the speaker icon if you can’t hear the audio).
